SuJu's new variety show wrapped up after 12 episodes and a promise to come back with a second season last month and if you haven't heard of this yet, I strongly urge you to watch the show.
Super Junior is one of these legendary groups (most recently they became the first Korean artists to enter the Latin American Billboard 100) who are really underappreciated nowadays. At least in my opinion. Especially newer fans don't appreciate them enough... Their 8th full-length album Play and the repackaged edition Replay were amazing albums with awesome songs (I could have literally seen half the album as title songs) and the members participated in writing and creating the album. But it never got as much attention as it deserved... Of course, Super Junior is now in the last stages of having members complete their enlistment (with Ryeowook and Kyuhyun in the army at the moment) and over the last two years made negative headlines with Kangin's DUI and fans being angry at Sungmin for getting married. And most recently, Siwon's dog attacking a neighbor forcing him to sit out on album promotions for Play. Due to that, SuperTV's first season only features the six active members Leeteuk, Heechul, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Shindong and Yesung. Especially Leeteuk and Heechul but also Shindong have a lot of experience with variety shows so I totally expected this to be good. To tell you right off the bat: I was not disappointed. SuperTV's concept to tackle a different "style" of broadcast with each episode (basically the same concept like Shinhwa did back in 2012 with their show "Shinhwa Broadcast" which is very entertaining as well and you should definitely check it out!) suited this show and the members a lot. It never got boring and they did nice twists on the usual variety formats. My favorite parts of the show were probably the members' sudden obsession with being on time (so they wouldn't be punished). My favorite episodes were the quiz show episodes that also featured six foreigners who competed against Super Junior which was super entertaining. In conclusion, if you haven't watched this yet: What are you doing with your life? (Seriously, you should go and watch it.) I listened to this out of curiosity and because I'd heard people talk about the song and I was very surprised at how much I liked it. I hadn't expected to love it as much at all, so give it a chance, please!
I recently stumbled upon a video entitled "An (Un)Helpful Guide to Pentagon" when I was looking at a few videos about them, so I got curious and decided to watch it which turned out to have been one of the best decisions I made that day. (Un)Helpful guides are basically an introduction to a group. They tackle fan memes, inside jokes about the members and introduce the band and members in general whilst not being awfully serious. I actually loved the style, so after the Pentagon guide, I watched more about EXO, Big Bang, Seventeen, Monsta X and more. All you have to do, basically, is type "unhelpful guide to [name of the group you're looking for]" in the Youtube search bar. There are a few people who do these kinds of videos so you have to look through some, or just click a random one. I want to show you some of my favorites, hopefully you'll find one about your favorite group, too, or get introduced to a new group this way. (Also, quick disclaimer: These videos are sometimes very long, especially when the groups have many members. But you'll be so entertained so just watch em!) The one that started it all. My favorite part is probably "YUTODA", which I cannot unhear anymore, in none of their songs which amuses and annoys me at the same time. Also, E'Dawn was immediately confirmed as my bias after watching this (also before that because I love his voice). GOT7 is generally madness and I personally loved the style of this video so so much. Basically all you have to know is in here. I think especially if you wanna find out more about the members (if you don't know much about them yet), this is a great way! With 13 members, Seventeen is probably one of the biggest groups promoting at the moment. And from experience I can tell you that so many members can get quite confusing sometimes. But fear not, just watch this guide and you'll be fine. (That's probably not true but it helps and it's funny.) Of course, I couldn't leave my favorite band out of this. (One of my favorites to be fair, but they started it all for me so definitely somewhere up there.) There are about a thousand more guides to Exo, but I didn't want to put a 20min long video in this so if you're interested go check it out yourself! So obviously, I couldn't include every group and I just chose the four guides above because I laughed most while watching those. I hope you enjoyed them as well. Make sure to check out the playlist on my Youtube channel!
I got totally obsessed with BoA's latest release last month and have been listening to the mini album non-stop. This song is probably my favorite but the others aren't far behind...
