I'm pretty sure I can't be the only one who underrates groups from time to time. You know, those are the groups you of course know but never pay as much attention to as they deserve. I've experienced this several times already and every single time, I'm angry with myself for not appreciating those groups enough to begin with. So without further ado, here are five of the groups I underrated in the beginning. Highlight (formlery known as BEAST) I have to clarify: Of course I did appreciate these guys already when they were still promoting as BEAST. In fact, I was an immense fan of their third full album "Highlight" and listened to it so so much but when they left Cube and made a fresh start as Highlight, I didn't pay much attention to them for about a year until recently I stumbled across "Plz Don't Be Sad" (fml I hate using the English song titles when they usually only have Korean titles but ugh) and I got hooked all over again. I mean, how can you not love that song?? It's such a jam! I also watched them on Weekly Idol (all of the episodes that feature Highlight) and I was once again reminded of their awesomeness. I also saw Dojoon and Junhyung on different varity shows again and loved them, hands down. I felt so sorry for not paying attention to them ever since they came back as Highlight so I promised myself to look out for them in the future because seriously, you can only expect the best from them. SeventeenThese dorks are my most recent obsession (it having started only yesterday). I was there for their debut and liked all their title songs but never really paid that much attention to them, after all. I also never really appreciated the fact that they produce their own songs and come up with their own choreo which I absolutely love and they're so freaking talented on top of all that. I mean, all of their title tracks get stuck in my head constantly so now that I actually know all the members (until yesterday I did not), my resolution is to watch them on more variety shows and also really listen to all their albums. I'm also highly anticipating their comebacks from now on. Wanna One Before Seventeen, these guys were my most recent obsession (and still are of course). When in December I'd only heard about them and not even really listened to Energetic at all... (I remember asking my friend if she'd heard about their special stage with Sechskies for an award show because I remembered she'd talked about them before and literally a day later I was absolutely in love wih them.) Now I've fallen for their charme. The beginning for me was Kang Daniel because he's like Korea's new god and seriously everywhere. So I saw him on variety and also Seongwu (on Master Key) and that's how it started. Now I know the entire album by heart and could not be more excited for the upcoming comeback. PentagonPentagon is one of them few groups I've heard music of and really enjoyed and liked it but never really watched an MV or seen any of the members on a variety show or even know all the members (I didn't even know Pentagon had 10 members). This doesn't happen a lot of times with me because I usually have a general idea of who a band is if I like them. But with Pentagon, I seriously have only listened and fallen in love with their music. One of their songs samples Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock and I'm a die-hard Elvis fan so at first I was like "How dare you copy the King of Rock 'n' Roll?!" but after the first ten seconds I was all like "Hell yeah, you sampled the King!". I really liked their songs and Pentagon has some very strong vocals! (I recommend listening to 고마워 by members Jinho and Hui which honestly left me speechless.) So I'm looking forward to new releases! Day6I was all there for their debut and liked the debut album a lot. Daydream was my favorite album for quite some time and I still love all the songs but after that I kind of stopped listening to their new songs (until I started playing Superstar JYP Nation and got to appreciate their songs again). With Day6, for me, it's incredible because I can't really think of a song I don't like. All their songs are really good and the melodies, omfg. I really need to listen to their music more because they seriously deserve it.
